Usually, two straps for each length of downspout are enough to give it lots of support. Each one should be around a foot from the end of the pipe. You could also choose to place one strap in the middle of the pipe and then the other two at the seam to hide it.

Usually, we manufacture our downspout straps so that the pipe sits 1" off the wall. This leaves 2" of strap material which can be bent around each side. This allows for flexibility - as if more or less is needed, this can easily be accommodated.

The best way is to use screws attached to the downspout, then a screw, nail, or masonry pin to the wall on each side.

How do you install downspout straps?

You need to buy the wire separately.

Do wood hooks come with wire?

Downspout hooks are hammered into the wall, and the wood hook is then fastened to the downspout or secured with a wire.
